There has always been a stocking-shaped gap in the Revival collection. We make suspender belts, girdles, corselettes (coming back soon!) and all manner of clever little garments designed to hold stockings securely in place, yet until now you’ve had to go elsewhere to find the stockings themselves.
Plenty of you pointed out the slight absurdity of this arrangement, so we’ve listened and introduced a small, affordable capsule range of retro seamed stockings.
Three Seams, Three Moods
The collection begins with three useful; and rather lovely; variations on the classic seamed stocking.
Our black seamed stockings give you the full pin-up effect, with a sheer black leg and a deep black seam that works particularly well with black lingerie. They proved to be the stars of our photoshoot and received the sort of enthusiastic approval normally reserved for a perfectly mixed cocktail.
The beige seamed stockings offer a softer, more traditional look. They create an elegant line down the back of the leg without the stronger contrast of black, making them an easy choice for daytime outfits, paler colours and vintage looks where you want the seam to whisper rather than shout.
Finally, our black stockings with lipstick-red seams are for days when whispering seems terribly overrated. The sheer black leg keeps them sultry, while the red seam adds a flash of cheesecake drama from behind.
Each style has a sheer 15 denier leg made from 90% polyamide and 10% elastane. That elastane gives the stockings useful flexibility, helping them fit smoothly and move more comfortably with the wearer.
Why We Photograph Stockings Ourselves
Many retailers use the standard packaging photographs supplied by hosiery brands. It is quick and convenient, but it doesn’t necessarily tell you how a pair of stockings will look when worn with the lingerie you already own.
At Revival, we photograph our hosiery during our own in-house shoots. This brings us very close indeed to every welt, seam and sheer panel, while allowing us to see the stockings on a real body and paired with our own suspender belts and girdles.
It also means that we gain first-hand knowledge of the product. We see how the colour appears on the leg, how opaque or sheer the fabric really is, where the welt sits and what the overall finish looks like outside the packet. That experience helps us give you clearer information and means the photographs on our website are genuinely representative of the stockings you’ll receive.
Made Elsewhere, Chosen by Revival
All Revival lingerie is made in-house at our family-owned factory in Nottingham, but stockings are a different matter. Producing fine hosiery requires specialist knitting machinery that we don’t have, so our capsule collection is sourced from trusted British hosiery supplier Silky and manufactured in China.
We would always rather explain the distinction clearly than give the impression that every item is made beneath the same factory roof. The lingerie remains our own Nottingham production; the hosiery has been carefully selected to complement it, photographed by us and judged in person during our shoots.
Finding Your Fit
Our classic black seamed stockings come in two sizes:
- Medium fits heights from 5'1" to 5'8" (152–172cm)
- Large fits heights from 5'6" to 5'10" (168–179cm)
Both sizes fit up to a UK dress size 18.
The beige seamed stockings and black stockings with red seams currently come in one size, fitting heights from 5'1" to 5'8" (152–172cm) and up to a UK dress size 18.
As these are traditional stockings rather than hold-ups, they need to be worn with suspender clips. Fortunately, we know a Nottingham factory that makes one or two rather fabulous garments for precisely that purpose.
